Treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
COPD is a progressive disease characterized by obstructed airflow through the respiratory tract. It is associated with an inflammatory reaction of the lungs and bronchi to exposure to toxic dusts or gases, such as tobacco smoke.
The disease initially manifests as a cough. In patients with COPD, it is chronic, lasting longer than 3 months per year, also outside of cold seasons, and is often accompanied by sputum expectoration. The cough often worsens in the morning hours – after waking up, the patient coughs for several minutes, and relief comes from expectorating sputum. In later stages of the disease, shortness of breath appears. Initially, it usually occurs during exertion and then gradually limits the patient’s exercise capacity. The patient notices that efforts which a few years ago did not cause problems, e.g., climbing stairs to the 1st or 2nd floor, now cause breathlessness or even require rest to catch their breath. Exacerbations of this disease manifest as sudden episodes of intensified shortness of breath, often accompanied by cough and mucus overproduction. They can last for several days or even weeks.
COPD is a disease that significantly affects the patient’s quality of life, but it can be treated.
Currently, Wilmed Medical Center participates in an international scientific clinical trial of new generation drugs used in the treatment of COPD. We offer our patients the opportunity to be treated with a modern method using the latest drugs administered via inhaler, not yet available for widespread use.
We offer patients participation in a clinical trial, within which they receive free treatment for obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Over a period of 5 months, the patient will have 7 free visits (every 4 weeks) at Wilmed Medical Center in Warsaw. The control visit (8) after the treatment period will be conducted by phone with the attending physician.
No referral from the National Health Fund (NFZ) is required. Medical consultations, diagnostic tests, and care by medical staff are free of charge!
Within this study, our patients receive:
- a modern treatment method;
- free access to modern medications;
- continuous care by a specialist doctor;
- regular health status monitoring;
- free diagnostic tests (spirometry, ECG, blood tests);
- reimbursement of travel costs to the center.
The above details are thoroughly explained by the specialist doctor during the first consultation visit, qualifying the patient for the study and treatment.
The study is conducted by Bioconcept company, Wilmed Medical Center – ul. Wiktorii Wiedeńskiej 9A lok. U2 in Warsaw.
