How to prepare for your visit – patient guidelines

At the first visit, a doctor from our center will conduct a detailed interview, perform an initial assessment of the lesions, and then collect a local sample for microscopic examination and identification of pathogenic fungi. The material is collected from affected areas – these are scrapings from the nail plate infected by the fungus.

To ensure the laboratory test results are reliable, please follow the important preparation guidelines below:

• the patient must discontinue antifungal medications. Oral medications should be stopped 6 months before the test, while topical preparations such as lacquers, ointments, creams should be stopped at least 4 weeks before the test;
• the patient must not cut their nails for 1 week before the test;
• the nail plate must not be filed or covered with nail polish;
