Platelet-rich plasma therapy

Treatments using platelet-rich plasma are among the most innovative and effective methods for treating orthopedic conditions. We invite you to contact our specialists!

Platelet-rich plasma is a substance obtained directly from the patient’s blood. After drawing a small amount of blood (approximately the amount needed for laboratory tests), it is placed in a special tube and then in a centrifuge. During centrifugation, platelet-rich plasma is separated, which, as the name suggests, is very rich in platelets. Injected into a specific site (under ultrasound guidance), platelet-rich plasma stimulates natural tissue regeneration processes, accelerates wound and injury healing, improves blood circulation, and stimulates collagen production.
Currently, platelet-rich plasma treatments are performed not only for professional athletes but also for treating:

  • degenerative joint pain,
  • tendon and ligament injuries,
  • muscle and bone injuries,
  • golfer’s elbow,
  • tennis elbow,
  • jumper’s knee,
  • Achilles tendon degeneration,
  • heel spurs,
  • delayed bone healing.

Platelet-rich plasma can be used in many people regardless of gender and age (contraindications include pregnancy, breastfeeding, active HIV infection, coagulation disorders, or cancers). It is a minimally invasive and safe method – plasma is obtained from the patient’s own blood, so unlike a wide range of pharmacological agents, it does not cause allergies, irritation, or drug interactions. Additionally, therapy effects are rapid and long-lasting.

Ask our specialists in platelet-rich plasma therapy about treatment methods for your condition. We invite you to orthopedic consultations at the Wilmed Clinic in Warsaw.
